DG-Compliant Freight

Shipping & Delivery

Lithium and lead-acid batteries are classified as dangerous goods under international transport regulations. We handle DG compliance end-to-end so your shipment clears every checkpoint without delays.

Battery Freight Classification and What It Means for Your Shipment

Lithium and lead-acid batteries are classified as dangerous goods (DG) under international transport regulations — IATA DGR for air freight, IMDG Code for sea freight. This classification affects how your order is packed, documented, and routed.

We handle DG compliance on our end before your goods leave the factory. Every shipment includes the required documentation and packaging — generated as part of production closeout, not as an afterthought when the freight forwarder asks.

We've seen too many shipments from other suppliers get stuck at port because the shipper treated DG docs as someone else's problem. We maintain current documentation for every standard model in our catalog and generate order-specific declarations during production closeout.

Every Shipment Includes

UN38.3 Test Summary

Required certification for lithium battery transport safety testing.

MSDS / SDS Documentation

Material Safety Data Sheets for customs and carrier compliance.

DG Shipping Declarations & Marks

Proper dangerous goods declarations and hazard markings per regulation.

UN-Specification Packaging

Packaging that meets requirements for the applicable packing group.

Shipping Methods and Carrier Options

We ship via sea freight, air freight, and rail (China–Europe) depending on your volume, urgency, and destination.

Sea Freight

FCL LCL

The standard for container-volume orders. We load from our factory in Zhongshan directly to Shenzhen or Guangzhou port.

  • Full-container orders (20GP or 40HQ) get door-to-port or door-to-door service through our forwarding partners
  • LCL available for smaller orders
  • DG surcharges on LCL can be disproportionate — we'll flag this if your order volume makes FCL more cost-effective

Air Freight

Urgent Samples

For urgent orders or sample shipments. Lithium battery air freight requires IATA Section II compliance and DG-certified packaging.

  • We work with DG-specialized forwarders who maintain carrier acceptance lists
  • Not all airlines accept lithium batteries — routing options are narrower than general cargo
  • Lead-acid batteries are generally restricted from air freight — sea or rail are your options for those

Rail Freight

China–Europe

A middle ground between sea and air on both cost and transit time. Available for European destinations via the China–Europe rail network.

  • Balances cost and speed between sea and air options
  • Available for European destinations
  • DG acceptance varies by rail operator and route — we confirm availability per order

Sea Freight

Lowest Cost

Best for container-volume orders

Air Freight

Fastest Transit

Lithium only, limited carriers

Rail Freight

Balanced

Europe destinations, mid-range

Packing Standards

Container Loading and Packing for Battery Shipments

Battery weight density is high — a 20GP container of lithium packs hits weight limits well before volume limits. We plan your container loading to maximize units per container while staying within gross weight restrictions and DG stacking rules.

For lead-acid gel batteries shipping to markets with rough inland logistics (common in Africa and parts of Southeast Asia), we reinforce cartons and add additional pallet strapping. We've learned which routes punish weak packaging — your goods arrive intact because we pack for the actual journey, not just the port-to-port leg.

Our Packing Standard for Battery Shipments

  • Individual units in foam-lined cartons rated for the product weight
  • Cartons palletized with corner protectors and stretch wrap
  • Pallet weight distributed to prevent shifting during ocean transit
  • DG labels and UN marks visible on outer packaging per IMDG requirements

Reinforced Packing for Challenging Routes

For lead-acid gel batteries shipping to markets with rough inland logistics (common in Africa and parts of Southeast Asia), we reinforce cartons and add additional pallet strapping. Your goods arrive intact because we pack for the actual journey, not just the port-to-port leg.

Planning Your Timeline

Production Lead Time and Order-to-Ship Timeline

Lead times depend on order type. These are production lead times — add transit time based on your shipping method and destination. We confirm exact lead time at order placement based on current production scheduling.

Order Type Typical Lead Time
Standard models, stock available 3–7 days
Standard models, production run 15–25 days
OEM/ODM custom orders 30–45 days
New development (first order) 45–60 days

Tight Timeline?

If your timeline is tight, tell us upfront — we can often adjust line scheduling to prioritize your run when capacity allows. We confirm exact lead time at order placement based on current production scheduling.

Trade Terms

Incoterms and Delivery Responsibility

We typically trade on the following Incoterms:

EXW (Ex Works)

You arrange all freight and export clearance from our factory gate. Lowest unit price, full logistics control on your side.

FOB (Shenzhen/Guangzhou)

We handle export customs clearance and deliver to the vessel. You take responsibility from the ship's rail onward. Most common for our container orders.

CIF / CFR (Named Destination Port)

We arrange and pay for freight to your destination port. You handle import clearance and inland delivery. Useful if you prefer a single landed-cost quote from us.

Flexible on Terms

We're flexible on Incoterms — use whichever matches your logistics setup. If you have a preferred freight forwarder, we'll coordinate with them directly.

If you need us to handle door-to-door delivery, we can arrange it through our logistics partners, though most experienced importers prefer to control their own last-mile.

Order Planning

Minimum Order Quantities and Shipping Economics

Our standard MOQ is 100 units for catalog models. However, shipping economics matter — a 100-unit order of 12V 100Ah LiFePO4 batteries won't fill a container, so you'll be on LCL with DG surcharges that significantly increase your per-unit landed cost.

The Sweet Spot for Sea Freight Economics

20GP Container

Approximately 800–1,200 units depending on battery size and weight

40HQ Container

Approximately 1,600–2,400 units depending on configuration

Container Utilization Transparency

We'll always tell you the container utilization rate when quoting, so you can decide whether to round up your order to fill the container (lower per-unit freight) or ship LCL at lower total commitment.

Honest Advice

If you're within 20% of filling a 20GP, it almost always makes sense to top it off. The marginal cost of additional units is far less than the per-unit freight savings you gain from a full container load.

Claims & Resolution

Damage, Shortage, and Claims

We photograph and document every pallet before container loading. If your shipment arrives with damage or shortage, follow this process:

1

Note Damage on Delivery Receipt

Record any visible damage directly on the delivery receipt at the time of receipt. This is critical for carrier liability.

2

Photograph Damaged Goods

Photograph the damaged goods and packaging from multiple angles, including outer carton condition and inner product damage.

3

Contact Us Within 7 Days

Contact us within 7 days of delivery with photos and your packing list reference. We'll initiate the resolution process immediately.

Resolution Commitment

We'll work with you and the carrier/insurer to resolve claims promptly.

Factory Packing Damage (Our Responsibility)

We replace or credit without argument for goods damaged due to inadequate factory packing.

Transit Damage (Marine Insurance)

For transit damage covered by marine insurance, we assist with the claim documentation process to expedite your recovery.

Insurance Recommendation

We recommend cargo insurance on all battery shipments — DG cargo has limited carrier liability, and the cost of insurance is minor relative to the shipment value.
